Tulip Season at Sea Ridge House

I took pictures of the tulips in full bloom yesterday. They are a sparkling red-orange color with huge heads. The vinca makes a great companion. With both tulips and daffodils in full force, it really is spring.

Daffodils and Elephant Seals

These are photos from the weekend of 2/16/06 and 3/4/06. The daffodils were in full swing when we arrived on 2/16 and seemed to be hitting there peak on March 4th. This photo is of the meadow which lies between Sea Ridge House and the woods that contain Sea Ridge Cottage.

The weekend of 2/17 was quite windy but the wind dies down abruptly 100 yards off to the right of Drakes Beach where you are sheltered by the cliffs. Suddenly it was a sunny beach scene! We came upon this guy about 3/4 of a mile down along the beach towards the point. Taken from 40' away...the closest 'polite' point to be when approaching a marine mammal.

fauna - Fallow Deer on Estero Trail Hike

My son and I spent the week checking out the Point Reyes trails nearest our house. We had observed fallow deer in the hills near the turn-off to this hike and thought this might be a good place to observe them. Sure enough!
